How to Save at Woolworths Australia with Rewards, Specials and More

Featuring a rich selection of products and holding a top place among the supermarkets in Australia, Woolworths is the go-to store if you want to get everything on your grocery shopping list in a single shopping session. The grocery retailer offers anything you need, from fresh fruits and vegetables to meat and bakery.

However, you will also find health and beauty care, as well as various household items, which makes a visit to the Woolworths store in your area a must. What’s more, using the shopping hacks below, you can stock up on your needs at this retailer and save at the same time.

Everyday Rewards

One of the best ways to save on your groceries when shopping at Woolworths is through the retailer’s Everyday Rewards program. If you’re a regular customer, this option is worth a closer look since, as an Everyday Rewards member, you can collect a minimum of 1 point for every dollar you spend at Woolworths online or in-store and at partners. All you have to do is scan your physical card or the digital card available in the app or digital wallet when shopping.

Furthermore, once you collect 2,000 points, you can choose what to do with them. You can either take $10 off your next purchase, add them to your Bank for Christmas and thus benefits from these savings from December 1st to January 1st each year, or turn them into 1000 Qantas points. Plus, Everyday Rewards members can also save further with points boosters and benefit from various extras, such as prizes and free products.

Save on Delivery With Delivery Unlimited

If you don’t have as much time as you’d like to shop in-store and you frequently buy online, you can also take advantage of the retailer’s Delivery Unlimited program. There are two types of subscriptions available, one for midweek deliveries and another one that includes any-day deliveries. These two subscription types are available for personal, senior, and business accounts, and their prices differ based on the type of account used.

For personal accounts, the midweek subscription is $119 per year and $15 per month, which makes the annual subscription more convenient, while the any-day-delivery subscription is $169 per year and $19 per month.

Terms and conditions apply, and the minimum order required is $100, but new Delivery Unlimited members benefit from a 30-day free trial. If you often shop online, with such a subscription, you can get as many deliveries you want from less than $10 per month as long as you meet the requirements.

Specials

Besides the shopping hacks mentioned above, you can also save with the Woolworths weekly catalogue specials. One such example is a price drop of more than 50% on select products; the La Care disposable face masks (50-piece pack) was recently discounted from $40 to $17.

Woolworths typically includes different types of specials, such as ½ price on health and beauty products, fresh specials that include special prices on fruits and vegetables, and meat specials, to name a few. Therefore, make sure to check the specials section to see if any of the items on your grocery list is discounted.

Sale Section

While this may not be available in all Woolworths stores, according to News.com.au, some of the retailer’s stores may have a reduced section that is typically found at the end of the last aisle. Such a section includes shelf items that are either slightly damaged or near their expiry dates, such as milk, meat, and dairy, and are thus significantly reduced.

Next time you visit a Woolworths store, make sure to look for such a section as you can find products that still good and safe to use yet at a much lower price. For example, a carton of milk was recently discounted from $1.86 to $3.20.

Some of them should indeed be consumed immediately, but if there’s something you usually use for your dishes, it is worth a try. According to a Woolworths spokesperson, these markdowns vary from one store to another and from one day to another as they depend on stock levels and demand.

There are a few other general tips to help you save no matter where you get your groceries from. One such tip is to buy fresh produce, such as seasonal fruits and vegetables, as they are typically cheaper since they come in plenty. Plus, you can stock up on such items when they are in season, get them at a lower price, and freeze them, if safe, for use when they are no longer available at an affordable price.
