The list of coffee drinks and coffee-based beverages invented in different parts of the world continues with café mélange, a type of coffee that is extremely popular in Vienna. It’s often sold in cafes throughout Austria as a traditional kind of coffee.
Café Mélange – Is similar to the Italian cappuccino, except instead of foamed milk, café mélange is made with whipped cream. It’s considered the classic coffee option in Vienna, and this black coffee is also popular in the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Coffee milk – Is a milky sweet coffee-based beverage made in a similar way as chocolate milk, but using coffee syrup instead of chocolate syrup. It’s considered by coffee aficionados less of a coffee and more of a treat.
Caffé Mocha – Is another sweet and delicate coffee treat, but made with actual coffee. Caffé Mocha is one-third espresso, two-thirds steamed milk and a small amount of chocolate, in the form of dark or milk chocolate, cocoa powder or chocolate syrup.
Cappuccino – The infamous Italian coffee drink that is made traditionally of half frothy steamed milk and half espresso, and modernly from one-third espresso, one third heated milk and one third milk foam, a variation consumed by many Americans.
Carajillo – Originates in Spain and is made with coffee and brandy or rum in various ways. The basic recipe combines black coffee with the alcohol, while another variation of Carajillo is made by heating the alcohol with lemon, sugar, and cinnamon, adding the coffee last.
Cortado – Is popular in a lot of Latin America and popular with a lot of people for whom lattes have too much milk, and espresso has no milk at all. It’s an espresso that is cut with just enough steamed milk to make it the perfect option for the people above. It’s served in petite cups, usually of glass.
Cuban espresso – Originates in Cuba and differs from the Italian espresso. The difference is that Cuban-style espresso is brewed directly onto demerara sugar, making it a sweet yet strong coffee that is often enjoyed as a social and cultural activity.
Espresso – Was first made in Italy in the early twentieth century and is a mix of several roasts blended into a bold and strong coffee. Espresso is brewed fast, using a much finer grind than for regular coffee. The average time of pulling a shot of espresso is 15 to 20 seconds.
Eiskaffee – Is German-style ice cream coffee very easy to make. The recipe calls for 2 to 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream in the bottom of a glass, chilled coffee poured over it, and whipped cream to top all that. Chocolate chips can be added, also alcoholic beverages for a boozy variation, or different ice cream flavor.

The Flat White – Is an espresso-based drink invented in Australia and New Zealand. It is often confused with latte and café au lait due to the similarities of ingredients and making process, but the flat white is usually made with a single or double shot of espresso and steamed milk in the form of microfoam which is poured over the espresso. It’s one of the coffees that often incorporate latte art.
